TIAIAlt U, Feb. 9. ALiss R.iitli Adarns, of Christchurch, is at present lying injured in an ice cave on the slopes of Alt. La Perouse (10,()(Klft) in the Alt. Cook regions. It may be two or three davs before shcean be brought out. As t'ar as can bt gathered, she has a brolcen arm, shock and concussion. AUss Adarns and Alr. Kdmond Hillary of Remuera, acconipanied by (Kiides H Ayres, of the Hermitage, and AI. Mulli van, of Fo x Glaeier. niade a siu-cessful ascent of Alt. ( 'ook on Friday by the southern route. The party returned to the. Gardiner Ilut and set off early this morning to climb La Perouse. An experienced climber. Aliss Adarns was roped with Guide Mulli van when appar ently she slipped, the rope parted and she feli appioximately 150 to 200 feet. The guide was not injured. News of the aecident was brought' to The Hermitage tonight by Guide 'Ay re.wlio made a 12-hour journey from the scene. He reported that Aliss Adain.was as comfortable* as possible. The guides made a trip to the Gardiner Ilu aird olrtained a sleeping bag and provisions. . The manager of The Hermitage, Alr. L. M. Hennis, made immediate arrangements for a rescue party which will leave al 3 a.m. tomorrow headed by Guides AT. Bowie and Ayres.
