Received Monday, 9.40 p.m. •NEW YORK, Feb. 8. A Californian mventor has demonstrated a device which, he claims, will solve the world 's petrol shortage. The inventor, Mr. James Moxiroe, said the device enahled him to run his motor car on equal cinantities of petrol and water, The device cost him only 25 dollars. To convince sceptical reporters, Mr. Munroe ponred a pint of water and pmt oi petrol mto a compiex network of tuhes and tanks at the rear of his 1935 model car and then drove around San Francisco for an hour. He explained that the principle of his invention was the conversion of water into its coinponent elements of hydrogen and oxygen. A secret process mixed the hydrogen and oxygen gas with the petrol vapour, forming a highly explosive product which was fed into the carhurettor. He admitted that the 0 explosive nature of the mixture was dangerous. In fact it niade a "mobile bomb" out of his car. However, he was working on that angle.
