OTHER NEW ZEALAND BOATS
Received Buudav, 11.30 p.m. BYDNEY, Feb. S. The New Zeaiand cutter Drifter arrived at Bydney at 10.26 a.m. today, bcaring scars received in the cyclone during the Tasman yacht race. The uu\igator, the 20-year-old Terry Hamniond, nuide a landfall within sight of Bydney I-Ieads. The skipper, Ken Pragnell, said they expet'ienced light \ ariable wiuds for the jirst six days and then rau into Ihe cyclone which j carried away both sea anchors ivithin lialf an hour, blew out the Genoa and staysails and put the i'adio out ol" action for two days. The Drifter rau hcfore the cyclone for four days under a close-reefed staysail, in a south westerly direction and was carried 200 niiles off coiirse. Last Fridav they rau into another gale but rode it out and lost no gear. The only other yacht they sighted was the l'agan off North Gape. three days out from Auckland. Prag nell said he was jileased with the vvoyage and under the circumstances considered they had done well. The Drifter will stay in Hydney for three weeks. The New Zeaiand keteh Seaward was! .-ighted off Newcastle this morning.
