Coneeiri is now felt by Sydnew yaehtsmen for the safety of the New Zeaiand yacht, Rangi, one of the competitors in the Auckland to Sydne^ race. 1 m -The secretary of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Mr. J. A. Kyd, said' that no fears were felt for the safety of the re. Hongi.. . The Rangi was the only one considered to be overdue.
She is regarded as a fast boat, and should have reached the coast ahead of the New Zeaiand cutter Drifter,k which arrived yesterday morning. The American ' cutter, Pagan, which Was stiled aeross the Pacific to New Zeaiand and was entered in the race, crossed the finishing line shortly before 2. a.m. today. The Pagan sighted the coast near Newcastle. yesterday morning and members of the crew reported to the. fishing boat that they were all well. The Pagan did not seem to have suffered any damage, but had lost its dinghy in a cyclone last Thursday.
