Pilot's Struggle With Airliner
Reeeived Hundav, 8.J5 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 7. A stewafd was killed when oue engine of a Cotistellation airliner exploded and a chip from the propellor ripped through ihe fuselage. The airliner, operated by Eastern Airlines, was on a flight from New York to Palm Beach and carried 63 passengers and a crcw of six. The accident oecurred 130 niiles off the coast of Florida. After sending a radio report tliat he was "ditehing" the aireraft, the pilot urestled with tliV .eoutrols for 25 mimites and brought the giant airliner down on oue of the feu airlields in the vicinity big enough to accommodate a Cohstellation. 'Two tvres blew out as the aireraft sereeehed to a halt at the end of the runway. The oiily passenger injured was a woman who brolce an ankle jumping down froxii the aireraft as soon as the loor opened.
