Weekend Bowling Results

Ideal bowling conditions prevailed at the Shannon Bowling Club's green last weekend, and there was a good attendance of playets. Activity on Saturday af ternoon took the form of an inter-club match for the Huntley Trophy between the Levin Club as challengers and the local holders. Levin won the match by 19 points to 17. The Leyin rink comprised Ecclesfield, Robinson, Kilsby and Scott (s) , while Shannon waS represented - by Robinson, Harris, Bell and Karena (s) . On Sunday five rinks from Takaro (Palmerston North) visited Shannon to play for the Bovis Bottles. Both teams.won two and a-half games • each, but the local club won on points, 104 to 91. The results were as follows, Shannon players being mentioned first: Harris, Thomson, Fitzgerald and Roach (s) 26, beat Cantlon, Brown, Lyall, Littlejohn (s) 15. Peni, Batt, Karena,. Mills (s) 12, lost . to 'Inkpen, Spiilman, Mortland, Smith (s) 22. Aitchison, Bell, Norris, Morrison (s) 28, beat Clark, Lund,"Kendrick,. H. Bovis (s) 10. Higgie, Knowles, Bovis, Thorne (s) 19, drew with Young, Sheary, Fabrow and Biel (s) 19. Robinson, Collins, E. Hook, • R. Hook (s ) 19, lost to Wan'd, Marshall, Thomson, Smith (s) 25. A rink of Takaro ladies, Mesdames H. Bo.vis, Taylor, Waekrow and V/ackr-ow (s), beat a Shannon ladiesU, rink, Mesdames Aitchison, Fitzgerald, Edmonds and Pope (s), 25—12. At the completion of the afternoon's play Mr. Spiilman, president of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, thanked the local club for a most enjoyable af ternoon on the green and took the opportunity of introducing Mr. H. Bovis, who.is the local club's representative on the Manawatu Centre. Local members extended their sincere thanks to Mr. Bovis for his ihany years of faithful duty as the club's centre representative.
