Veterans Bowling Match To Be Annual Event

* A' han'dsome donation, kindly niade by Mr. E. P. Williams, of vPalmerston" North, has enabled the Paraparaumu Beach Club to offer a suitable trophy to be played for by bowlers of the district, the game to be an ahnual oue, and to be- played on the. Paraparaumu Club's green. Players must be of 70 years of age or over. . • On- arrival at the green on Wednesday, when the first match was played, Mr. A. J. Petherick, explained the conditions, statirig that two matches of 12 heads would be played that day, 'the winner to be a'djudged on points gained in thej two contests. Mr. 'Wesley Knight, who was also present, greatly assisted. Over 30 players participated and play generally, was of a high standard. During the day Mr. Scammel' took movie pictures which will be •displayed on the screen. The Paraparaumu Club, noted for ir.s hospitality, provided refreshrhehts for those present who incl'uded a large number of ladies and members of outside clubs. The trophy, to.be donated, is not yet to hand but in due course will be handed to the winning rink skipped by Mr. J. D. Brown. The following are the results of the day's play:— Brown 30 noints Ricketts 29., Barron 26, Prankish 23, Fraser 22, Noble and Dryden zu each, Milne Ti. Otaki's thir d rink failed to reach Paraparaumu, due to a mishap.
