Waingawa Men to Have Tribunal

MASTERTON, Feb. 3. Late this afternoon a settlement was reached in connection with the go-slow policy at the "Waingawa freezing works, the men, after a long diseussion, agree'ing to resume tomorrow morning at the usual killing rate. This followed consideration by the men of a communication from the Minister of Labour who promised to set up a tribunal to investigate the men's elaims providing the men resumed work tomorrow at tlie usual rate of killing. The firm of Thomas Bortliwick and Sons, Ltd,, owners of tlie works, agreed to abide by tho flnding of the tribunal. Notices had been posted at the works to^ay anliouncing that the, works would be closed down nnless the men resumed at the ordinary rate of killing. At the request of the men these notices were taken down this afternoon and others substituted stating that killing would be resumed in the morning at the usual rate. This morning 360 slieep were killed at the works which emplovs 6U men.
