DUNEDIN, Feb. 3. Entries for the'* New Zealand . Marohing and Recreational Association's annual championship, to» be held at Dunedin on February 25 ufider the auspices of the Otago Marching Association, number 25 as against the 36. teams which competed ai Hastings last year. Mr. H. Cameron, secretary of the « Otago Association, when inteyviewed by a "Chronicle" represen.tative today, said that no doubt the ^ infantile paralysis had; affectejd the * attendance of North Isiand teams - Only nine had entered in the competitions from the North. Isiand. "We* were looking forward to a large representation from the North, as the marching promises to be one of . the highlights of the centennial celebrations. With the' ' ban on travpl for those under 16, however, it has meant that the majority of the t.eam,s have not been able to compete." "The teams will take part in the centennial pro'cession, which will be held on February 24/ while the Maze March, to be staged on the day of the championships, wifi be the most spsctacular yet seen in New Zealand. Accommodation arrangements are complete an'd the teams are assured of . an enjoy- • able time in our city," he concludeq. ' • , .. ' The marching order of the teams will be as follows: — State Forest (Rotorua) , Southland No. 1, Blair Athqll (Dunedin) , Peacemakers (Dunedin) , Southland No. 2, Fash-i-ons (Dannevirke), Southland No. 3, Southland No. 4, St. John's (Gore), Pirates (Rotorua), Lustre (Wellington)', D.I.C. (Wanganui;, Hudson (Dunedin) , \ Ballantynes (Christchurch) , Arawa (Nelson) , Police (Hastings) , Mataura (Southland) v Caviliers (Wellington) , Alex- ■ andra (Central Qtago)^ Royaletts (Rotorua), Gwens (Greymouth) , Redbands (Nelson), Aotea (Dunedin), Southland No. 5 (Ngongotaha (Rotorua). Last year's New Zealand champions, Shaw's Kilties, are not competing, but Blair Athol and Arawa, Who filled the second and third places, are. again competitors. All marching teams Uhroughout the Manawatu Centre have been inactive since the ban on the congregation of 16-year-olds and under, the only exception being D.I.C. , Wanganui, who will represent the centre at Dunedin.
