Personal Mr. Boggs, of Upper Hutt, who has been spending a holiday in Otaki, returned home yesterday. Mrs. George Matulieh, of Czechoslovakia,- has arrived in Otaki to take up residence with her husband, after being parted, due to the war, for some years. Mrs. Matulieh is accompanied by her son. Dr. Ernest Beaglehole, M.A., (N.Z.), Fh.D., Lit.D. (London), F.R.S.NiZ., at one time a resident of Otaki, has been appointed by the , Council of Victoria University College to the Chair of Psychology and' head of the department of psychology and philosophy, ren'dered vacant by the appointment of Sir Thomas Hunter as principal of the college. Money Stolen For thq third time the offertory box at the Maori Church was rifled recently. Racecourse Improvements Further improvements are to be carried out at the Otaki Maori Racing Club's course. An extension is to be made in the width of tlie course, while a proposal is afoot to provide a steepechase course'. .Levels have b.een taken in connection with the latter proiect.
