He was com, menting on last night;s decision ot the combined meeting of the Hutt yglley and Wellington branches of the New Zealand Carpenters' and Joiners Lnion.to adopt a go-slow policy. Mr. Love said there was no dispute ■ hetween the employers and workers, "This is a dispute between the (oni munistic elemept of the Carpenters' LTnion and law and order as represent, ed by th.e Court of Arbitration and the Government with . the majority or uniopists being used as a eatspaw. U would he interesting to know if a secrei ballot were taken in reaching Jasi night's go-slow decision/1 he added, The shortage of critical materials was already causing vexatious delays to the housing prograirime in New Zealgntj and this go-slow action would add to those delays. The national secretary of the New Zealgnd Carpenters' Union, Mr. ttoy Stgnley, of Auckland, refused to comment on the allegations of- Mr. R. C. Cove. Alr, 10. L. Tregoweth, secretary of the Wellington branch of the Cnjon, said there was no truth in Alr. fove's allegations. Members had maJe their docisions by a demoeratic vote and they were not being Co.minunist-inspired or fooled by anyone. The go-slow policy- was already proving elfective ui eorrecting the injustice of the Arbitration Court 's decisions on carpenters wages and on exemptions for certain employers.
