Personal • ' , Mrs. I. Falkner, of Bryce Street, is enjoying a three weeks' holiday at Dunedin. • • Mr. E. J. Gunning, of Stout Street, who is an inmate of the Palmerston North Ho&pital is progressing favourably. Mrs. F. Edmonds and family, -who have been spending *a holiday at Tangimoana Beach, have now returned home. Misses F. Chester, M. Haley, L. Lee and A. Callesen are back in Shannon after spending a working holiday in Nelson. They arrived by air at Paraparaumu on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs." S. Morrison, who. has been spending a holiday. at Paraparaumu, has returned home. Her mother, Mrs. G. Quarrie, a former resident of this town who. is an inmate of >the Wellington Hospital is now making good progress. Keen Bowlers So keen are the Shannon bowlers of both sexes, that on a recent mornng a rink tried playing over the flex of the club's electric mower while the greenkeeper was cutting the remainder of the green It is understood that the results of the game, were not very satisfactory. The newly. . formed ladies' clUb is gaining more members each week and players are be.commg very keen. In a progressive pairs competition . played at the iocal green over the weekend, some very mteresting bowling resulted. Messrs^ I. p. Hemmingsen (skip) and D. Aitchison (lead) secured the most points.
