Blondes Went Red and Yellow
Received Thursdav, 7 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 22. Though farmers may prefer bjpndy land givls th.ev cannot emplov them in Ilerefordshire to work as fruit tree spravers. The reason for this decision by the agrieultural committee is that the-acid .in the sprays has been colouring the blondes red. and yellow. Though a specialist contdbnplated the probleni and provided blondes with jars of skin cream j^i)the hope that it would be an antidote, it was still found that the phenolic aeid iii tar spray penetrated their masks and stained their faces a vivid red. They were given anothei type of spray to use and this time it turned them yqllow. It was found that bruuettes werei not affected nearlv si badly and so nlonde land girls hav been - given other types of work to do.
