GOOD PROSPECTS FOR TRENTHAM TOMORROW

(SPECIAL-
— From
WELLINGTON, January 21. Th'e Wellington Racing Club will continue its threeday summer meeting at Trentham tomorrow, when, with the exception of the two opening events, another" excellent card will be presented. There are a number of horses with dual engagements atthe meeting, while others have also accepted for the Ashhurst fixture at Awapuni. • ; There has been no rain since early Supday and, the sky cleared on Tuesday and beautiful sunshine has pre- , vailed since. The track is now in perfect condition and the eroing will be f ast tomorrow.
The only other meeting set down for tomorrow is the Ashhurst fixture at Awapuni where the fields are large. However, it appears more than likely that the scratching pen will be busy as several of the acceptors have also engagements at Trentham. Some horses affcted in this respect are. Tremello, Ruling Moment, On Time, Harleyholm, Deep Sea, The Pagan, Night School and Veine d'Or. However, it is understood that Tremello, Ruling Moment and Harleyholm will race at Trentham. After his outstan'ding performance in winning the Wellington Cup with ridiculous ease, Spare Part will now go out a warm favourite for the Wellington Racing Club Handicap. Although he has been risen to the 8.10 mark in the handicap this should not trouble him on continuing on his winning way as he is undoubtedly a galloper of class and unquestionably a grand stayer. If the track continues in its present condition I expect Desert Fox to give a much better account of himself than he was able to do in the conditions on Cup day. Howe is sore and unlikely to start. With improved track conditions better races can be expected from King's Ransom, Langue d'Or, Regal Praise, Royal Victor and Royal Tan, if started. The conditions suited Dunbar in the Cup, but he is unlikely to find the same tomorrow. Of the fresh horses in the field Balgowan, Imperial, Broiefield, Merry Robin, Catterick Bridge and Yasda are not without prospects. Majesty might be classed a little unlucky not to have caught Ladyship on the post in the Telegraph Handicap and but for running in when the pressure was on might have won. He has drawn another bad marble, but his class is so good that I class his prospects of making amends in the Metropolitan Handicap as second to none. Irish Note can be expected. to give an improved showing as the race last Saturday has done him good. Blue Trout is under a clcfud and is not expected to race again at the meeting. Wantwood is another likely improver, the same also applying to Aggravation, Zealander, Brown Derby, Cressida, The Pagan, if started, and Carmelita. A fresh horse with an excellent lightweight prospect is that good southern sprinter Citril.
