Tour Of Inspection The Mayor (Mr. H, B, Burdekm) and members of the Levin Borough Council will. carry. out their annual inspection of borough works on February 7, accompanied""' by the overseer, Mr. E. Street Photographv An applieation '.-was received at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council from a Levin photographer for a permit allowing him the sole right to undertake street photography in Levin. Although grantin^ the applicant permission to undertake such photography, the /council declined to allow him the sole right to operate. Children And Swirtiming The outbreak of infantile paralysis and the banmng of the Coro- ' nation Swimming Baths to children has -raised th^ question of how those who have pai'd for season tieke ts will fare". When the question arose at the ' meeting of the Levin Borough Council last night, it was decided that those . who hav.e purchased season tickets and are prohibited by the current health regulations from using the baths, can either claim a refund of their money or retain the tickets for next season. Magistrate's Warning Cases of intoxicated arivers were becoming prevalent in Dunedin and if they persisted, he would con'sider imposing terms of imprisonment, even for' a first oflence, and the fines would be stepped up, said Mr. J. D. Willis, S.M., in the Police Court during the hearing of a case in whieh William Peter Divett, aged 21, an electrician, plea'ded ;,guilty;.tq-a charge of beingintoxicated wYiile-drrving a' motor car. Evidence Was given that his vehiele collided with a police patrol car. Divett was fined £25 and was disqualified from driving for one year. Macarthy Trust Grants Applications are now being invited by the Public Trustee for grants from the amount becoming available under the T, G, Macarthy Trust for distribution to charitable or educational institutions in the provincial district of Wellington. Applications. „must be made on special forms to b'e obtained from the District Public Trustee, Wellington, and must be lodge-d with that officer not later than February 29, 1948, Applications not received by this date are liable to exclusion. The applications, when received, will'be considered by the advisory committee set up by the Board of Governors of the, Trust. Recommendations will then be made by ■the advisory committee to the Board of Governors, which will finally decide ,.on he allocation of the grants. Bowling Green For R.S.A. Seeking an area of land for the formation of a bowling green, the Levin R.S.A. has written to the Levin Borough Council enquiring into the possibility of leasing^ a suitable part of Playfor'd Park, When the matter was discussed at last night's Borough CounciLmeet-r ing, the question of a suitable and convenient access to a possible green at the park arose, and also the fact that legal matters concerning the land had yet to be finalised before a start could be made in the cutting up and laying out of the park. Meanwhde, it was decided that a, letter be sent to the R,8.A„ intimating that the council view the suggestion with favour, and would give consideratlon to the granting of a portion of Playford Park or part of anothpr suitable borough property.
