Victorian Ketch for TransTasman Race
AUCKLAND, Jtin. 19. Tvvolve days after leaving Hobart, the A'ictorian ketch Kurrewa III, the only State eutry for the trana-Tasman yacht race, arrived at Auckland thia morning. Except tllat the dinghy was stove in by a heavy sea off Cape Maria Van Diemen, the trip was uneventful. A 58-foot ketch with a beam of 13ft. 6in. and a displacem&nt of 23itons, the-: Kurrewa competedyin tlid recentl S3rdney-Hobart raco, .^kippered by Mr| F. Livingston with lis Igrotli^r, :Mr. T^ Livingston as matel The ' Kurrewa^' earried eight other men as crew across the- Tasman. They were Bill Mitchell, sailing masterj John Downton, navigator; Bob Gordon, Alan Bath, Eric Gordon (cook), Horace Lockley,. Toxrt Tacobs- and Terry ConnorS, the last three being fadio expeSts^ :Tk^v Kur%: rewa, which will be the largest yacht in the race starting on January 24, is considered to have good prospects of finishing flrst.
