A well-lmown and wealthy Bydney man is suspected by the Commonwealtli jfc' being the brains behjnd huge goid unuggling operations betwcen tho NorHiorn Territory aud Bingapore. Th-j organisation is credited with having cluared thousands oi: pounds from illicil •ietivities. In the belief that Singapore is the eiearing house for illegally exported gold, the Austraiian authorities have soughfc unsuccessfully to obtain a iehd -through the Malayan administratiou. Ihe search is being extended, Lt is believed that ' the organisation provides fuelling stations en route cilhj^f in Indonesia or Timor. Planes land in Australia, are met by the administration's men, are given gold and depart almost immediately. A strieter wutvh by the police and land-sea.patrol oliicers in the Northern Territory has beeit ordered but the' space to be covered is so immense that the authorities l eel it cannot be done.
