Following an old Maori war traii through heavy. bush and mountainous country, Mr. H. Dudfield, Tokomaru Bay, has completed a lone traverse of the East Coast from Pakihora Station, 17 miles inland from Ruatoria, across theRaukumara range to the western (Bay of Plenty) side, concluding at the Te Kumi block on the Rauko- ' kore River. No wild life was seen j apart from a few opossums and 1 traces of pigs. Heavy rain was experienced.
