Wheeler, Adelaide, for a chestnut colt by Balloch from Itoyal Sister on the second - day of the 22nd annual sale of thoroughbrcd vearlings at Trentham today.' The colt* was bred and olfered by Mr. M". H. Tims junr., Te Awamutu. The jjrice was the highest paid for any lot 011 the tirst two days'of the sale, the best price on the first day being 1600gns. The undeibidder 011 the colt was -Mr. A. Pbt-ter, chairman of the Australian Jockey Olub, w'ho is visiling New Zealand. Sevenjty-three lots were sold today for an agg-regate of 30,160gns., giving an average of 413 gns. compared with an average of 426gns. for 73 lots on the rirst day. The aggregate for the two days is 62,9871 gns. for .150 lots, an iverage of 419£ gns. * Competition today was spasmodic. wilues were again 011 a lower level than last vear. Australian buyers purchased 14 lots and contributed 11,505 gns., their purchases including" two of the three highest priced yearlings. unlj three lots realised lOOOgns. or more. In addition to the top priced colt, a Nizami colt from Plaxmoor, olfered by Messrs -I. Macrae and k. W. Hewitt, Masterton, brought llOOgns., the buyer being Alr. M. Grogan on behalf of an Australian owner. A colt by Balloch from Lady Middleham, olfered by the Alton Lodge Stud, was bought also by Mr. WhceJer and realised lOOOgns.
