Mr. and Mrs. George Hart, of Carterton,- are" at present on holiday in this district. Con'stable and Mrs. Turnbull are at present in Wanganui, the former on annual leave and the latte,r under medical treatment. Mr. Harold Henderson, clerk of the court at Otaki and Levin, is at present on annual leave. Mr. S. H. Fitchett, of Palmerston North is relieving as clerk of the court. Shirley, the twelve-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Cobb, of Te Horo, under went an operation in the Palmerston North Hospital last Thursday, and is reported to be making good progress. The death occurred recently of Mrs. Takutai Stephens, of Motueka,, daughter of the late Mrs. Metapere Barrett, of Dunstan Street. The deceased, who was 62 years of age, had been in the Nelson Hospital for the past twelve mqnths. The funeral took place' at Motueka. Veterans' Bowling No less than three rinks from jthe Otaki Bowling Club will compete for the cup offered " to players over 70 years of age. Otaki Has Sharp 'Quake A sharp shock of earthquake was felt in Otaki shortly after 5 o'clbck last evening. Though no damage was caused, the shake was sufiiciently heavy to alarm residents. -
