The New York Daily N.ews reports that there are at least half a million G.I, illegitimate babies throughout the world -existing in disgrace and semistaryation. The Daily News; which eharg.es the United States Government with a hnsh 'hush poliey on the subjeet, says that in > the Pacific theatre there are at least 190,000 eases wherein the mother had eonfessed to the illegitimacy. The Daily News quotes Mr. Richar-d Taylor, third secretary of the New Zealand Legation at Washington, as saying that one reason- for the retieenee -oi the foreign embassies is a deference to the reputation of the womanhood of their countries. The Daily News adds that as comparatively i'ew United States troops v ere stationed in New Zealand, the pro blem -there is not as severe as in other Pacifie countries^ ■■■
