— — — WAIKANAE MAKING OVERTURES TO HUTT COUNTY ■ The Waikanae Beach Progressive and JRatepayers' Association are apparently seeking to sever Waikanae Beach and township's eonnection with the- Horowhenua County "Couneil. They have written to the Hutt County Couneil, asking for their views on the possibility of an amalgamation of their district with that controlled " by the Hutt County^ In a letter to the Horowhenua County Couneil read at. -yesterday's meeting, Mr. H. R. Robinson, Hutt county clerk, stated that his couneil had no obj eetion to the proposal. . ""So" they want new parents," eommented Cr. D. K. Guy. Cr. L. F. Brown said that he did not think the original settlers at Waikanae were behind the scheme. After . discussing the matter for some -time in eommittee, it was referred to the works eommittee.
