Mr. and Mrs. H. Woollett, of Trafalgar Street, Levin, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. H. Varnham, of Winchester Street, returned on Sunday .evening after a three weeks' holiday in , the South Island. Nuffield Professor of Surgery at Oxford University and consulting neuro-surgeon' to the British Army, Sir Hugh Cairns, will arrive in Auckland by fiyingboat from Sydney today. An emineht hrain surgeon, he- is undertaking a tour of Australia and New Zealand as .first travelling professor under the Sims Commonwealth endowment scheme. Born in Adelaide 'in 1896, Sir Hugh went to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. While in New Zealand he will attend the 21st annual meeting of the Royal Aus-. tralasian College of Surgeons in Dunedin.
