ARABS FIRE ON BRITISH
Received Sunday, 8.15 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 11. Firing on British police, .100 uniforfned Arabs surrouixded and attacked the J ewish colony of Rainat Rachael, near Jerus.alem, a State Agency reports. British armoured cars iixtervened and the Arabs were driven off. Twelve Jews and eight Arabs were killed in a Arab- Jewish encouixter in the Negev area of the southern eoastal plain on Jamxary 9 in which British troops aixd police intervened. Two J ews are reported killed in a elash in the Gaza area. Tel Aviv sources said 11 Jews are also missing. Trootps are' searching the sand dunes for them. Arabs in the Latrun area attacked Jewish cars taking wounded to a settlement for treatment. Two Jews are reported killed and eight wouixded. All Jerusalem 's seven gates were closed last night, reports a British Pnited- Press dispatck Six gates have been closed since the TT.'N.O. partition decision. Only the Jaffa-Gate remaiiied open and the Arabs decided to' cloSe that also. The city 'is now viftually sealed. Even Arabs have to satisfy the. Arab1 guards that their entry or exit is a matter of urgency.
