PARALYSIS INSURANCE
When England had an infantile paralysis epidemic last season, many people insured themselves with Lloyd's against the disease. The benefit covered all me'dical expenses incurred by the person covered. At least one Wellington insurance agency has now offered insur- ' ance against "infantile paralysis, but since medical expenses are eovi ered by social security benefits a cash grant is given instead. • A weekly sum of £10 is payable ; from the time the patient is diag- , nosed as positive until his discharge from hospital. If he is • more than 50 per cent. disabled, a casli grant is ma'de to bring* the total amount paid to £1000.
