PALESTINE DEATHS NOW 630 SINCE U.N. DECISION

Reeeived Friday, 11.15 a.m. JERUSALEM, Jan. 8. A Jewish lorry convoy, carrying food and reinforcements to more than 1000 Jews cut off in the Jewish quarter of Ol'd Jerusalem, failed to breok the Arab blockade. Bands of Arabs opened up heavy fire on the qonvoy from Mbunt Zion when Jews on Montefiore opposite laid down covering fire. An Arab witness said that the Jews used mortars, but the convoy could not break through. The fatalities in clashes in various parts of Palestine today brought the death roll since the partition to 630, including 26 British.
