BOOKMAKERS TAKING HOLIDAY
AUCKLAND, Jan. 8.. Leading bookmakers in Auckland held a conference today to diseuss. tffc recommendation of the Royal Cornmission on Gaming to decide on a suitatsie meaps of protest agafnst some of the suggestions of off'-course betting. Although any suggestion of an organised ' ' strike ' ' was rejected, it is understood that individual bookmakers were invited to take an extended holiday for a month or two nionths pending a petition being presented to Parliament.
