WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. The Mines Department refuses to comment on a report that New Zealand niiners worked. in. 1947 to a target Output of 2,900,000 with the expectation that a seven-hour day would be in.stil uted in the tnines if it was aehieved. Figures for the year's output are not yet available but it is expeeted they will be short of this target. A.lthough ininers in the Grey area are report ed to be instituting a seven-hout day of their own accord, others are stated to be still negotiating with the Minister of Mines, Mr. McLagan.
