COOL SOUTHERLY ON THE WAY
Heralded by an oncoming south-,. erly, a depression Is moving slowlj /: across the south-west corner of the South Island, mo.ving south-east and taking with it the hot weather. Anticipating this, temperatures are steadily falling, and the last few days5 exceptional weather can be written bff as having passed. Levin's highest temperature yesterday was 78 degrees, and future temperatures should drop even further till the sixties — the average -January temperature, are reached. Meanwhile, till the southerly _arrives, strong northerlies "will prevail, but the southerly, bringing With it cool air and the probability of showers,- should set in late this evening.
