Masterton Theatre May Be Teraporary Bar

MASTERTON, Jan: 8. At a meeting of the Licensing Trust yesterday afternoon, which lasted up till 9-30 p.m., it was unanimously decided to permanently finance the trust with Govemment money. , Finance is to be arranged under Section 37, clause 3, of the Trust Act, which states that for the pbrpose of enabling a trust to com1mence to exercise its functions without delay, the Minister of; Finance may from time.to time advance to' the trust out of the Qonsolidated Fund, any money required for the acquisition of any property, or payment of preliminary or general expenses. An overdraft* for £2000 has been arranged with the Bank of New Zealand and applications are to be called for a secretary and treasurer. It was decided to obtain the'services of a local arcliitect to s^rvey the Cosy Theatre and • Occidental Hotel buildings, with a view to obtaining suitable places for temporary bars. Steps are being taken to find buildings suitable for temporary bars in other parts of the town.
