Mr. Douglas Alexander- Ennis, aged 42, mmarried, of Rangiora, was drowned at tlie moutli of Ashley River this afternoon. — • - - Mayne Hawkins, a boy in a fishing party, egot into difficulties and kr/. Ennis, with Hawkins' father, went to the rescue. A fisherinan, Mr. P. McMiilan, with a bqat, «aved both the Hawkins but. the bodv of Mr. Ennis was not recovered unti'l the river was dragged.
