MR. FRASER ATTACKED OVER FILM ISSUE
Taldng the Priihe Minister (Mr. Fraser) to task on the ground that he has forbidden the publie exhibition of the lilm "Indonesia Calling, " the official journal of tfie Australian Waterside Workers' Federation, which spon- ' sored the production, challenges him to show that'he ever banned a film from Hollywood attacking and ridiculing Eussia. The publication states that it is disquieting news that the film should be banned in New Zealand, on the ground that it.might liurt the feeling of a friendly nation. The publication aeeuses the Prime Minister oi' objeeting to suppot't a minority against a majority, and says that it is news that the Dutch in Indonesia are in a majority. s \ ] "The whole centre of the affair, " the paper states, "is that Indonesians, and Australian and New Zealand wharf labotu'ers, really believed at tlie time that the Atlantic Charter was something that was really meant. Of course, Mr. Fraser had notliing. to do Tvith. this charter, but he did represent his country at U.N. " A copy of the film sent by the Australian Waterside Workers' Federation to the New Zealand Waterside Woikers' Union has been sereened privately to numbers of industrlal, social, and Laboitr organisations.
