HOLIDAY TIDINESS
Over the holiday season the town of Shannon presente'd a tidy appearance to the visitors, for almost without exception the business people attended to their premises, dressed the windows to give a festive air and generally tidied up. outside their buildings. The plantations along the length of the thoroughfard had closely cut grass and the seats (not nearly enough) were occupied from morning to late in the evening by persons enjoying a rest, with perhaps an ice creamor soft drink from a nearby shop, in the shade of the ornamental trees an'd generally watching the "world go by." Altogether it wa's a restful seene on a hot day and many a motorist Was tempted, and did stop, to take refreshments before continuing the journey. The fruits of the Shannon Beautifying Society, formed some 28 years ago to improve the appearance of the town, are now being enjoyed.
