MR. CHIFLEY AND MR. FRASER MEET IN HOSPITAL
WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. ' A 'discussion lasting about an houi and a-haif took plaee at the Lewisham Hospital this afternoon between thi Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Chifley, and the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Praser. A Government .spokesman said' later that the two / Prime Ministers had 'a general discussion on economic and financial questiohs and an interchange of views on the world situation generally. Wrapped in a 'dressing gown, Mr. Fraser was permitted to leave his bed for the occasion and he walked along a corridor to a separate room wrhere tht partv had a discussion and also 'afternoon tea. Mr. Fraser returned to hisbed directly after the meeting and was not available for an interview. Interviewed after the meeting Mr. Chifley smilingly said he was merelv on a holiday. ' ' The discussions were very satisfaetory and that is about all I can say, " he added. '"We did not agree on everything biit you could not exx>ect that." While at the hospital Mr. Chifley called on Mrs. *Nash, wife of the Minister of Finance. She has been in the Lewisham Hospifal since the end of Noveniber receiving treatment for arthritis.
