RAILWAY EMPLOYEES URGE ONE-DAY STRIKE
WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Otahuhu railway workshops cmployees are proposing a one-day strike in February and the adoption of goslow tactics after ward s, unless douiands over wages and prices are met. It is ceported that th.eir proposals liave already been circulated to Ijranches of the A.S.K.S. and Kailway Tradcsmen's Association but because of the Christmas and Xew Year liolidays, opinions 011 the proposal may not be obtained for sonie timel The question has not vet been discussed by the national council s of the organisations concerned. The letter from Otahuhu to all brancli secretaries states that the employees there have been coutinuously expressing dissatisfaction at the increased spiral of prices in comparison with "the inadequate threepence an hour wage increase recently gran|ed, suppos ed to meet tliese increasing prices." The letter asks for a combined effort in a one-day strike and go-slow tactics with a secret ballot ou Jauttarv o.l. .
