500 CHINESE DROWNED

SHANGHAI, Dec. 28. It is feared that 500 were drowned at Hankow vesterday morning when lire aboard the Chinese river steamer Van Shing eaused panic among 700 passengers, most of whom plunged into the icy Yangtse. More than seventy bodies have lieen recovered. The fire was put out only after it had spread to three other steamers and more than a dozen ' junks'
