EUROPE'S MILLIONS FACE A LEAN CHRISTMAS
Received Simday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 20. Europe's millions, except for a small fraction, will have another lean Christmas but it is better than 1946. A survey of twenty countries indicates that except in a corner oi Greece and a few drought stricken reg.ons of Eastem Europe, a little mo. e food is available. Europe, however, is weighed down hy worries over the future ancLAn many places the Christmas mood is ohe of uneasy apprehension. Ihe universal complaint is prices higii and going higher. This put many things beyond the purse of the average person. Many countries, nevertheless, are try:ng to revive some oi the colouriul observances of the traditional Christmas.
