MAORI NEW TESTAMENT

GI8B6RNE, Dec. 18. The typeseript of the New Testament, in Maori had been sent to the Bible .-vOciety ifi London for printing, said the Very Rev. J. 8. Laughton at a meeting at Ohofipe of 'the conifiiittee engaged on the preparation of a revised Maon edition of the Bible. The committee has completed the ■u'rutiny and correction of 265 typeWrittefi pages of 'the Old Testament, •omprisiiig the books of Genesis, Exo•lus, part of Deuteronomy, Judges-. •dulli, Job and PsAlins. The next meeting the committee is to be held at Oliinefi5r"tu on January 28. Texts in preparation for that sitting coniprise Leviticus, Numbers, the iialance of Deuteronomy ,Joshua and I. Xainuei, with Proverbs in reserve. The 'pace of the committee depends on'thc care with which the revision scriptili have been prepared, but it is being accelerated so that the whole work mav be completed early ifi Ihe SfifiVmer of 1948.
