A QUIET CHRISTMAS PREDICTED
■ There is every indication that Christmas in Shannon will be a quiet one. Most shopkeepers report that many shoppers are doing business early this year. apparently to avoid any rush or large gatherings of people at the last minute. Very few childreen are seen about the town, and even in the toy shops their absence is n'oticeable. A number of beach holidays have also been cancelled.
