Person^] Inspector Ainsworth, who resided in Otaki in 1936, and is now stationed at Wellington, was among the visitors to Otaki yesterday. Mr..j: Hurley, at one time stationmaster at Otaki and latterly at Feilding, has received further promotion, being transferred to Wanganui- as stationmaster. •The friends of' Messrs. Fred and Herbert Carmont will regret to iearn that both are patients at the Palmerston North Hospital, the latter entering the institution on Wednesday and the former on Tuejday. The friends of Mr. Vernon Tews wiii be pleased to know that he has completed £is four years' chemistry course, passing his final examination in ihe bnef space of twoyears. Mr. Tews is now in Wellingcon, where he is reported to be giving excellent service. Sright Shops Shops in Otaki are now lookmg brighc, gay decorations giving them a iestive air. Political Addresses ' It is the intention of Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., to hold a series of meetings in the Otaki electorate | during February. Among the towns to be • visited will be Levin and I Otaki.
Poor Water Pressure A correspondent complains that the high pressure water supply at the beach is reduced to less than a trickle in places, but says in otherplaces, on the domain for example, water is being used in large quantities. War Memorial A meeting of the Otaki War Memorial Society was held on Wednesday night, wnen matiers in con-. nection with the gala day to have been held on January 2 and now postponed till Easter, were discussed. A further £60 has been raised recently.
