OTAKI BOWLING CLUB
M^ETING OF COMMITTEE A nieeting of the committee of the Otaki Bowling Club was held on Ttiesday night, the president, Mr. W. Wilson presidihg. There were also present Messrs. R. , Kearns, T. V. Cahill, H. Cole, L.j Walsh, E. T. Bartosh,. H. Nicolson i and J.' D. Avery (acting secretary).! It was reported that *the _ .club's , secretary, Mr. M. J. McGiffigan, | was still in hospital, but was pro- ; gressing well after his operation. Ifc j was regretted, however, that hs, would not be able to participate _m j bowling this season. It was decid- j ed to write and wish' him a complete aird speedy recovery. Apologies for absence from the meeting were received from Messrs. R. W, , Jenkins and J. Snowden. I Letters of thanks were received from Mrs. L. G. Lowry and family and from Mr. Drew in acknowledgment of the letters of sympathy sent them in their recent bereavements. Fixcures for the various greens v/ere .reported, it being stated thaj Paraparaumu, Paekakariki, Otaki and Otaki Railway greens would be used for the holi'day tournaments. Friday, January 2, would b.e the day the Otaki Club's green would be used for the pairs section. Arrangements for morning and afternoon teas and luncheon were left to the club to finalise. Mr. W. Wilson was appointed as umpire for the pairs section at Otaki 011 January 2. Mr. Cahill reported that the recent tournament had been a success, all rinks being fully occupied, while two rinks of the Otaki Club were ballotte'd out. These rinks, however, would participate in the next tournament. Thanks were accorded those who had assisted in making the tournament a success, the ladies being especially mentioned for their work. — — 4> i
