Following the running of the coneluding event, the jud'ieial committee held a lengthy inquiry into incidents in the race. Oue was' the protest against the winner but that was dismissed and it was deeided that the deposit be refunded.' Then W. L. Aitken, rider of Beau Raide, was eharged with -having eaused interferenee with Tenor Royal in the straight the first time past the stands. His explanation, whieh was aeeepted, was that his mount had got on the heels of Jolly Goodfeliow and had then rolled in on to Tenor Royal. Next, over near the six furlongs, Tenor lioyal' was again in ti'ouble when he was foreed over on to the rails by Waimanu. The evidenee conneeted with that incident Miowed that Waimanu had been foreed over on to Tenor Royal by Patunui, ridden by C: A. Bowry. Bowry explained he had made the elfort to go tlirough between two liorses aud had been squeezed baek. lle was suspended for a month. Tenor Royal was in trouble a third time in the straight, but W. J. Broughton, rider of Tenor Royal, explained that he had tried to send Tenor Royal tlirough a gap whieh had closed niomen1 arily.
