JUNIOR W.I.'S CELEBRATION
The Levin Junior Circle of the Women's^ Institute celebfated its second birthday in St. Mary's Hall recently. There was a pleasing attendance of visitors, among them being the Mayoress, Mrs, H. B. Burdekin, the president of the South Wellington Federation, Mrs. Eggers, and members of the Poroutawhao ,W.I. With the assistance of members of the Levin W.I., who contributed three items, an excellent programme was provided. This consisted of a pianoforte duet,.a play produced, by Miss B. Blenkhorn, songs by. Miss A. Allen and Mrs. G. Hesp, a i»ecitation by Mrs. Pescini and a play by the Misses Johnson. The president, Miss Clapcott, thanked all present for attending and making the party a s^iccess. Mesdames Burdekin and Eggers were each presented with a bouSupper was then. served after which the two candles on the birthday cake were lit. Mrs. Eggers extinguished the candles and Mrs. Burdekin cut the cake. Members of the Poroutawhao and Levin W.I.'s presented Miss Clapcott and members of thd junior committee with bouquets and sprays, wishing the junior circle a happy birthday and a successful future. On Tuesday next the junior circle will hold its Christmas meeting. The competition will be a Christmas gift costing not more than one shilling. Members are invited to bring a friend.
