Strachey has se4up a conimittee of three headed by Sir Johu Bodiiinar, president of the Food .Manufacturers' Association. Tlie committee is charged with investigatim! conditions at saies, the general opera tions of blaek market buyers and witli devising methods to coniliat their ac livities. The conimittee will commence its \\ ork immediately. Simultaneously Ecotland Yard, in coivj unet ion with Alinistrv of l ood enforceinent otficers, is devising extensivo plans for estublishing a ring of police traps round London in order to check the eontents of veliicles suspected of carrying black market food. ilost ot the lilack market supplies entering the capital are stated to be earried by road and the marked decrease in road trafric as tlie result of the abolitioa of the basic petrol ratioii, is expected to assist the police in their tusk. Regular svuprise inspectious o.f eountry saies and markets are also planned.
