Received Thursday, 10.10 a.m. r,. LONDON, Dec. 10. L a ft'ables and letters from AusUrha and New Zealand are among 2000 offers to serve the Arab cause in Palestine, says Reuter's Cairo correspondent. A further 3000 offers, ineluding two i'Torn former majorgenerals, have arrived from the United States. The Arab League, which formed a special eommittee to deal with the applieations, said the majority had served in the Middle East, and some were former Arab enemies. The High Oommissioner in Palestine, Sir Alan Cunningham, today warned the Arabs and Jews that he would direct the security forces to adopt severe measures against both rac-es if the disorders did not cease. The Palestine administration would retain law and order as long as its mandate continued. The Associated Press' Jerusalem correspondent says that Haganah men blew up an Arab dwelling near Gaza from which they claimed Arab gunfire had killed six Jews. Four Arabs were killed in the explosion. Intermittent gunfire and hand-grenade explosions occurred in Haifa early this afternoon. The wounded included a Spanish priest, three Arabs and three Jews. The Jewish Mayor of Tel Aviv and the Arab Mayor of Jaffa today exchanged letters designed to bring about a truce in the border zone between the cities. The outlook in Palestine is darkening steadily, says the Times' Jerusalem correspondent. In the last 48 hours 23 Jews, nine Arabs and three British have been killed in Arab-Jewish clashes, mostly in the area between Jaffa and Tel; Aviv.
