Tlie Government forces claim to have inflict'ed heavy losses and encircled the remainder. Meanwhile, from Tsiiigtai, Government dispatclies state that ,'30,000 Communists launehed a large scale attacK on Laiyang, a key defence town 7U miles southeast of Tsingtao. Bitter tighting is progressing. Should tne Couununists attempt to attack Tsingtao where the United States Western Pacific fleet is based, United States marincs may be forced to evaeuate.
