NO SETTLEMENT OF STRIKE AT HELLABYS
AUCKLAXD, Dee. 9. There was no settlement of the strike at the f reezing works of R. and \V. Hellaliy today and it is understood no negot iat ions were Iteld. A meeting ot strikers took place in the morning and further committee meetings are con tinuing but efforts to discuss the matter with the Government have so t'ai not been successful. According to tho industry the dispute is not likely to afi'ect shipments of food to Britain as othbr works are handling suflicient stock to niaintain exports at present wliile there was no suggestion today that the trouble would spread. A stopwork meeting will be held at Westfield tomorrow to hear the exeeutives' view.-, on the niatter. The dispute is being handled by Hellabv's section of the Freezing Workers' I'nion whicli (lecid ed to strike when a secret ballot wataken on Afoiulay.
