The Xew Zealand C'onstitution ( Amenduient ) Bill which has already passed the Lords, was given a uu anitnous second reading in the Com mons. .Mr. Xoel-Baker, Secretary fui Coinnionwealth Relations, who moved Ihe second reading, said tlie Bill re moved a recognised out-of-date limita tion on the power of the Xew Zealand Parliament to amend its constitution Xew Zealand was equal in status to al' lotlier countries of the Oommonwealtb and it was proper that their people should decide what their institutions phould be and how they should work. Xo one, however ignorant or hostile, could pretend that this would weaken tlie ties between Xew Zealand and the other nations of the Comnionwealth.
