DECISION IN LOUIS-WALCOTT FIGHT UPHELD

Received Tuesday, 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 8The New York State Athletic Commission, at a special meeting today, refused to reverse Friday's decision in favour of Joe Louis over Joe Walcott. It did, however, congratulate Walcott upon his "splendid performance," and commented that Louis, who had always been a true sportsman, would probably give Walcott another try for the title. Commenting on the chief point of the Walcott protest — that Ju'dge Frank Forbes gave Louis most rounds but Walcott the most points — the commission said that the decision of Judge Forbes was in his discretion, and the commission had 110 desire to interfere with the exercise of that discretion and the judgment of competent appointed officials.
