MUSIC CLUB ENTERTAINS

PROCEEDS GIVEN TG FOOD FOR BRITAIN FUND All interested music lovers were reeently invited to an end-of-year function by the Levin Music , Club. It was an outstanding success and the large assembly filled the Presbyterian Church Hall to capacity. TBeautiful floral decorations, composed of roses, gerberas and sprays of spring blossoms, made an arresting display. An excellent programme was arranged, artists from Levin and outlying districts taking part. At the conclusion, the president, Mrs. F. S. Alleri, thanked those who had assisted with the p.erformance, mentioning in particular the visitors who had eontributed to the programme. The silver coin coliection, amounting to £6 12s, was then brought forward and handed to the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, as the club's contribution to the food for Britain campaign. i. Mr. Burdekin eongratulated the club on its fine presentation and extended his thanks to the contributors for their donations to such a worthy cause. During the evening supper was served by the hostesses and members of thej committee. The various artists who assisted with the programme were as follows: — Vocal solos: Misses Maureen Black (Manakau) , Fay Kirkbeck, and Audrey AUen, and Messrs. F. Baumber and W. H. Townrow (Otaki) . Pianoforte solos: Misses M. Gardner, A. Todd and M. Laurie (Otaki) . Pianoforte duet: Misses A. Colej and A. Nicol. Elocutionary items: Miss L. Lind (Shannon) . Choral items were eontributed by the club choir, comprising Mesdames C. Bennett, A. Haley, D. P. Todd, F. Baumber, H. Baumb'er, H. C.'Easton,- F- Satherley, T. Devine, W. O. Neas and . N. Thorniey, and Misses,. M. Ryriej M.- Gardner 'and D. Nalder. The conduct'or was Mr. F. Baumber.
